Test and Tagging is the process of checking electrical equipment In accordance with the Australian Standards AS/NZS 3760:2022 as extracted below

“Electrical Equipment needs to be subject to regular inspection and testing to detect obvious damage & wear”

Pulse Test and Tag can conduct the process from start to finish, providing you with a comprehensive report on completion.

The frequency in which devices and equipment need testing varies between 1 month and 5 years depending on the use, the environment and the location of the device.

The frequency of the testing is not isolated to a single location but the environment of that location. There are often occasions where a number of different environments come into play and will affect the frequency of the testing, Pulse Test and Tags technician can advise of the correct and necessary frequency of the testing upon inspection.

New Equipment – When new equipment is purchased in Australia, The supplier is deemed responsible for the initial electrical safety of the equipment, thus new equipment need not be tested but upon a visual inspection for obvious defects or damage if deemed compliant the responsibility is transferred to the owner to ensure it is tagged in accordance with AS/NZS 3760:2022

External Inspection of equipment

Checking for damage, defects, wear or modifications to the equipment.Checking the plugs / connectors for discolouration and wear; a possible sign of excessive heat, loose electrical connection, chemical or moisture exposure.

Protective Earth Continuity Test

Ensuring the resistance is sufficiently low to ensure correct operation of the equipment.

Insulation Test

Testing the leakage current insulation resistance of the device.

Polarity

Ensuring correct wiring has been completed of the equipment, It is not uncommon to see the neutral and live conductors reversed.
